Evangelism and Millennials
Michael Banks, Jr. continues a heritage of pastoral ministry begun by his father and grandfather. Michael attended the University of Virginia where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Religious Studies in 2005. Michael spent the next six years working as a teacher and counselor for the City of Newport News’ Department of Juvenile Services, while serving as part of the Worship Ministry and a leader of the Young Adult Ministry at Calvary Chapel Newport News.
It was at Calvary Chapel that Michael met and married his wife Mata. In fact, it was at their wedding reception when Michael was offered the opportunity to serve full-time as Assistant Pastor over the Worship and Prayer Ministries at Calvary Chapel. This remains the post Michael holds today.
Michael returned to the classroom in 2014, enrolling in seminary at Regent University. He completed his Master of Divinity degree from Regent in 2018.
Michael is passionate about educating others to live and love in God’s calling.
